Jaguars of Brazil : I was invited to visit the Jaguar Research Center by Dr. Charles Munn a Senior Conservation Zoologist for the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS, New York); Charles spent more than two decades in Manu, Peru researching macaws and designing programs for conservation-oriented ecotourism. The Jaguar Research Center is his last achievement, a small lodge with only seven enormous comfortable tents, African safari style, located in the middle of the Pantanal, Mato Grosso. The Pantanal is the world’s largest freshwater wetland, at 68,000 square miles, it is almost 10 times the size of the Everglades. The Pantanal is also one of the world’s most productive habitats. The Jaguar Research Center is located on the high and forested banks of the Rio Tres Irmaos (Three Brothers River) inside the 270,000 acre Parque Estadual Encontra das Aguas (Meeting of the Waters State Park), one of the three largest protected areas in the entire Pantanal. No other location in the world can offer anything like this for number of jaguars; it is just amazing!

Wildlife of Brazil : During my quest of the jaguar, I encountered most of the typical wildlife living in the area surrounding the Jaguar Research Center in the Parque Estadual Encontra das Aguas (Meeting of the Waters State Park); giant otters, spectacled caimans, capybaras, black howler monkeys and the rare and elusive ocelot.

Wildlife of Peru : I traveled the Amazon Basin of Madre de Dios for four consecutive years, visited remote areas in search for wildlife: the Parque Nacional del Manu (Manu National Park), the Parque Nacional Bahuaja Sonene and the Reserva Nacional de Tambopata Candamo. In 1976 I ventured for five long weeks upstream Rio las Piedras, an affluent of Rio Madre de Dios, encountered very few people and no tourists; visited remote oxbow lakes, hoping for jaguars, but we failed, we couldn't spot any, but a lot of different animals.

Wildlife of Belize : I lived in Belize, Central America for the last 14 years, and in Belize I discovered my passion for wildlife. I live on the seaside in a remote area in the south, surrounded by thousands of acres of wilderness not yet exploited, just few miles from the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, a 150,000 acres National Park dedicated to the preservation of the jaguar. Saying I see wildlife almost everyday is not an exaggeration, is the reality!

Birds in Flight : On old passion: birds in flight. I have been trying this technique since the very beginning, using my Nikon F with a 200 mm f/4 manual focus, just imagine the results! But with today cameras and lenses and a little bit of skill it become an easy task. I just added some images recently taken at Man of War Caye a rookery for the magnificent frigatebird and now it is breeding time, an incredible activity!
