Group's 'regeneration plan' for Welsh-speaking areas

Ysgol y Parc, near Bala, Gwynedd The initiative came from a campaign to save Parc School, near Bala

A Welsh language pressure group is launching a pilot scheme aimed at regenerating Welsh-speaking communities.

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg, the Welsh Language Society, says its plan looks at "housing for local people," and how schools can regenerate areas.

It said the idea came from a campaign to save the school at Parc, near Bala, which Gwynedd council wants to close.

The plan was launched at the annual Merioneth County Show in Harlech.

The show features entries from farmers and animal owners exhibiting cattle, sheep, horses and dogs.

There is also a special youngsters' programme, as well as competitions including photography and cookery.
