What should we do next?
What should we do next?Parliament is hung: no one political party is big enough to be the new government.
1,981 votes castIt's confusing, but we're not the only ones feeling unsure about what's coming next: politicians are feeling the same. That means we have a huge opportunity to decide what should happen and together, we need to decide how we're going to use it.

Most people are confused about what's happened in this election – does that mean now is the best time to call for a new voting system? For Liberal Democrats, a proportional voting system has always been a top priority and now Labour are saying they might More...

HoneyBee
WHAT ARE WE DOING?Over the last sixteen years or so, the Honey Bee Network has lived the very spirit of the philosophy that it holds so dearly. Moreover, the actions that have followed the philosophy have grown and matured over a period of time and their trajectory of maturation has been based upon the strong realization of the essence of the philosophy. ‘Honey Bee’ Newsletter, the creative mouthpiece of the network, is published in seven Indian languages (Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Oriya) other than English. The very logic tells that any documentation and dissemination of local and traditional knowledge and innovations in English, certainly connects us globally but alienates locally. Living out the concern, the regional language versions reach out to the thousands grassroots knowledge holders, who otherwise would have been alienated from the benefits of knowledge, they themselves contribute in the first place. Acknowledging the very source of the traditional knowledge, the Honey Bee Newsletter and its regional versions carry stories of the local ingenuity with the consent of the knowledge holder. Another source of acknowledging the local genius has been preparing the database of the traditional knowledge and grassroots innovations and Honey Bee Network, over the last twenty years has documented more than 1,00,000 ideas, innovations and traditional knowledge practices. Honey Bee, true to its metaphor, has been the source of pollination and cross-pollination of ideas, creativity and grassroots genius, without taking away the nectar from the flower for ever.
A Benchmarks Report Card for Sudan
A Benchmarks Report Card for Sudan
May 6, 2010
An independent review by six leading human rights and Sudan advocacy groups reveals that the Sudanese peace processes for Darfur and Southern Sudan show no significant progress. They are at best stagnating and at worst backsliding toward complete failure and a return to full-scale, national war.The report released today, “A Benchmark Report Card for Sudan,” analyzes 28 leading indicators of progress, concluding that 17 indicators show significant worsening of the situation on the ground, while the remaining 11 indicators show a stalemate.
John Norris, the Enough Project’s Executive Director, commented, “The report card for Sudan reveals an absence of progress. This clear-eyed, transparent, and independent analysis makes painfully clear how much work remains to be done and how dire the situation remains on the ground. The administration indicated it would apply pressures if the parties failed to make progress. Well, the parties have slowed to a halt and are sliding backward in critical areas.”
One of the key indicators – the recent elections in Sudan – was reportedly marred by fraud, censorship, and voter intimidation. Now the regime in Khartoum is certifying as winners candidates such as Janjaweed leader Musa Hilal – who should have never been allowed to run for office in the first place.
The Report Card demonstrates that, despite the initially encouraging signs that the administration was committed to seeing verifiable change in Sudan, there has been a lack of change since the administration’s policy was put into place. President Obama should empower Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice to personally step up and make sure that the regime in Khartoum is held accountable for a lack of progress and for backsliding away from peace.
TAKE ACTION NOW:
Email your Senators at http://action.savedarfur.org/campaign/benchmarkse to ask that President Obama, Secretary of State Clinton, and UN Ambassador Rice be directly involved in the full implementation of the Sudan policy and be ready to respond with multilateral pressure when Sudan’s dictator Omar al-Bashir fails to make progress towards peace.

Future of Health IT: Trends and Scenarios
Hi (-: There is a way and has been a way of bringing the www to the state where it is also a ready built WWTW. Using very powerful but easy to set up technology from Autonomy (autonomy.com) projectbrainsaver and more recently an offshoot called hightechheadhelper shows what can be achieved with Autonomys (ie IDOL Echo) and Etalk software. Its been a long time coming but it looks like voice capable systems for everyman will have actually been started by Dr. Guruduth Banavar Director-IBM Research India, and Chief Technologist, IBM India/South Asia and not a giant step on a global scale through the use of business technology used in a different manner - for and on behalf of the individual. At least the sunlight is coming over the horizon. (-: Mark Aldiss projectbrainsaver
